About Channel View

Introduction

"A few years ago Channel View was an abandoned shack surrounding an old Victorian railway carriage. Today it has been transformed into an amazing contemporary and unique holiday home. The open plan living space is light and bright with large picture windows which look out onto the shingle beach of the nature reserve and the new lighthouse.\nThe Victorian railway carriage has been lovingly conserved and creates a central feature within the property as well as providing an amazing space for entertaining. A sliding floor-to-ceiling picture window at the end of the railway carriage creates an immersive indoor-outdoor dining space while the separate fully-equipped modern kitchen includes two ovens and a breakfast bar with expansive views over the beach and the iconic Dungeness channel marker.\nThe master bedroom has a kingsize bed and the property sleeps a further two guests on an extra-large kingsize daybed in the snug area.\nDungeness Nature Reserve is a truly special place to stay with miles of shingle stretching out into the English Channel. It is stark and wild and yet also a place of awe-inspiring beauty - ideal for photographers birdwatchers and dog lovers alike.\nChannel View really is a home like no place and is the perfect getaway-from-it-all retreat."

Dungeness, on the south coast of Kent, boasts mile after mile of open shingle beach, fresh water lakes, wet grassland and stunning wildflower meadows. Grab a lobster roll or fresh fish flatbread from the local beach-hut ’Snack Shack’ on a sunny summer’s day then explore the picturesque medieval churches of the Romney Marsh, or pick up a freshly caught crab or fish from the nearby ’Fish Hut’ then cook-up a feast at Channel View while taking in the uninterrupted coastal views. Whether walking your pooch or watching the countless native and visiting birds, Dungeness is the perfect getaway at any time of the year.

Ease of booking, good selection of holiday lets in variety of locations. Wonderful position with huge windows giving great views. The railway carriage centre-piece is great fun and we had a very enjoyable stay recently. Plenty of cutlery cooking untensils and very comfortable bed. Could have done with a little more shelving in the shower room and also for clothes in the bed-room. Ideally it is best for two people but the spare bed was also comfortable and ideal if you have a couple of friends staying for a day or so.We would stay here again

Couldn’t fault the cottage,no expense spared and a fantastic location. It had one of the best kitchens I’ve seen for a rental. Great get away, fresh air and great walks.

Great service. We booked a last minute stay. All documents arrived quickly with contact numbers should we have questions. Very friendly service. Will use Mulberry again. Chanel View was amazing! It has recently been rebuilt sympathetically keeping a rail carriage in the middle of the living area. It’s huge windows made it light and airy. Lovely toiletries left in the beautiful bathroom. A very well equipped kitchen with great cooking area. All located in a magical Dungeness location. Perfect!

Our second stay with Mulberry Cottages - just perfect. Channel View is such a clever mix of old and new. I love the minimalist architecture which has been built around the old railway carriage, which takes centre stage and doubles up as a dining room. Everything has been carefully designed and thought out, including the views from each of the massive windows/doors. I loved the shadows created by the morning sun. I wish we could have seen the sea from our home though (the shingle was too high). Dungeness is such a surreal place with the nuclear power station as a backdrop and the desert-like landscape — we grew to appreciate it more and more over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised that even during the busy May Bank Holiday weekend it was incredibly tranquil. Truly a home like no other. We also enjoyed fabulous walks on the near-empty sandy beach just a couple of minutes in the car up the road at Lydd-on-Sea, which stretched out for miles.
