"What was once a dormant calf byre of one of Hampshire’s most beautiful privately owned historic houses Houghton Lodge is now a bespoke collection of six individually designed boutique en-suite bedrooms called The Apple Rooms named after apple trees growing in the walled garden orchard. The rooms face west across a grassy meadow away from the main house and river.\n The Apple Rooms provide the perfect base for exploring the many Test Valley attractions and restaurants. They are ideal for romantic getaways countryside and rural retreats weekends away visiting friends fishing or attending a function close by.\nMahogany and oak Georgian furniture has been carefully selected to style the rooms most pieces are over 300 years old. Where antique furniture has been difficult to source new pieces have been bought to complement the minimal yet stylish design. The result is a blissfully serene and idyllic escape in Hampshire. All guests can enjoy complimentary entry to the gardens during their stay during the opening hours 1st April – 30th Sept to discover the features of the walled garden peony walk long border topiary peacock garden and the luscious lawns which roll down to the River Test. Guests will also receive a discount for the on-site tearoom Honesty at Houghton Lodge 1st April-30th September. During the winter months the garden and tearoom are closed 1st October-31st March to allow some much needed garden development.\nEgremont Russet is a tastefully furnished room with a sumptuously vast superking bed which can be separated to form two singles. The stylish modern bathroom is equipped with a period style WC bath and overhead shower. Properties in England - Current government guidance states that in England, outdoor restaurants and takeaway options, as well as swimming pools are permitted to open in Step 2 (expected to be 12 April – 16 May 2021), subject to social distancing rules. Indoor entertainment and areas of hospitality will not be permitted to open until Step 3 (expected to be 17 May – 20 June 2021).
Wales: The latest Welsh government guidance states that outdoor attractions and outdoor hospitality, including at cafes, pubs and restaurants can reopen on Monday 26 April 2021. Gyms, leisure facilities and fitness facilities can reopen on 3 May 2021.
Scotland: The latest Scottish government guidance states that gyms and swimming pools can reopen for individual exercise on 26 April 2021. On the same day, outdoor hospitality (which can serve alcohol and stay open until 10pm) and indoor hospitality (without alcohol and closing at 8pm) can reopen.
