Eton Cottage

The cottage was very cozy and furnished with everything you could need. We were there with 4 adults and there was enough space for everyone. The kitchen was well equipped, nothing was missing. For German vacationers it takes a bit of getting used to sleeping under a blanket :-) But it was big enough for two. Excellent dining is available at the Museum Inn, a short walk away. The residents of the place are all very friendly and even let you look into their gardens. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Salisbury, which is definitely worth a visit, and about 30 minutes to the beautiful sandy beach of Southbourne.

Eton cottage was a beautiful property. It had everything you needed plus a super king bed! It has a super enclosed secure garden for little dogs. The museum Inn down the road is amazing for food and drinks. 100% recommend this eton cottage.

Lovely location, cottage well equipped, plenty of local walks and National Trust at Kingston Lacy was a lovely visit. We would have given the local pub within walking distance much more custom had it not been so pricey, we only had a drink and ate there once and drove outside the village to eat elsewhere.

The cottage was located in a very pretty village with lots of charm and thatched cottages. There was parking and outside space. Very clean, nicely furnished, well equipped, large comfy bed, dog friendly and surprisingly warm for such an old building with stone floors (on a very cold few days in February) so managed to eke out the logs ( a few more would be good-not sure why have to buy more logs as cost of rental should include all heating) as did use the log burner every night for maximum warmth. Dog friendly pub very close which had good food but pricey. Lots to do in the area and plenty of great walks for the dog. Literally next to the road so some noise from passing cars which could increase in the summer months. We really enjoyed our winter break and would book the cottage again and would recommend

Lovely, cozy and bed super comfortable. Location was great for the place's we wanted to visit. Low beam in the living room and the entrance from the hall into the living room. My husband is 6ft and bumped his head several times as kept forgetting so anyone really tall might find it a problem. But it is a cottage after all. It wouldn't stop us from visiting again as it was lovely. The only reason I've given a 9 for overall score instead of 10 is because the hall was rather cold and going from the downstairs bedroom to the bathroom in the night it was a tad chilly. Would benefit from a thick curtain to pull across the door which would help to keep the warmth in. The same in the kitchen as there are no curtains or blinds. Nobody would be able to see in but it would make it more cozy especially in the winter

We found Eton Cottage to be very comfortable and well equipped . Possibly the best bed we have had in a holiday property . Everything was clean and the owners had thought of everything we might need .The second bedroom has low ceilings and no hanging space but that was obvious in the description . Some reviews have mentioned the size of the kitchen but we did not find it to be a problem .Loved it !

This our second time in a year and it ticks all the boxes for us and our 2 French bulldogs. The village is beautiful and quiet, there are plenty of nice walks, public right of ways. The local pub is only 200yds and dog friendly and serves nice food. The dogs loved the log burner as we did. It is quite central for attractions although we just enjoyed the peace and quiet. The bedding is lovely and quality, nice welcome basket with wine and milk in fridge. If I was being critical, some of the rugs could do with a clean and maybe a handrail in the bathroom. Big thank you and we will be back.

Eton Cottage sits right on the narrow lane in the village with a pull-in parking area beside the cottage. Small children and dogs would need to take care exiting the front door. On arrival we found the cottage to be spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfy, the bed linen crisp and white, the water hot, but there was nowhere to store clothes in the upstairs bedroom at all. The two bathrooms were lovely, modern and stylish, as was the very small kitchen - very sleek but too small to even dish up food in, as there was literally no work surface space at all. The tiniest dishwasher I have ever seen just took our breakfast-for-two items! It was placed so low down on the floor that reading the dials to set it was quite awkward! Nevertheless, for a short break the cottage is warm, cosy and pleasant but it is let down by the bare and currently uninviting outside area, described as "garden/patio", accessed from the downstairs bedroom through French doors. The roof thatch looks in need of attention too; in a village where virtually every other house is thatched, it stood out rather for its poor condition. The village however is lovely and the pub just a short walk away serves good, if rather pricey, food. For a short stay, the cottage is very comfortable and ideally placed for exploring the lovely local area. We very much enjoyed our visit, despite my observations above. I would have rated it 10/10 if it had not been for the lack of storage upstairs and work space in the kitchen, plus the unattractive outside area full of dead pot plants and a gravel area with weeds!

Although the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped we found the very low doorway into the sitting room an accident black spot. We also found that 2 of the socket outlets were faulty, causing 2 of the table lamps to flash on and off. Lack of clothes hanging space upstairs was a bit of a problem. But all that aside a most enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage. Just fix those 3 moans and the cottage would deserve an overall 10.

We had a lovely family holiday. Cottage very pretty. I wouldn't necessarily reccomend if you do alot of cooking as the kitchen is very small with limited workspace and the dishwasher is tiny. Lovely comfy beds, would have liked a parasol in the garden and some citronella candles as there were lots of flies and bugs. The pub was nice, a little pricey, and the playground was great for my 2 kids, plus the added bats went down a treat. This really is a rural getaway, we had mega drives to the seaside, but we knew this on booking. Lovely wine in the welcome hamper.

Had a really lovely stay at Eton cottage. There were a couple of minor issues that prevented it from getting full marks but on the whole it’s a really sweet, well appointed cottage. One huge plus for the four of us staying was that we had the absolute best night’s sleep, both beds were so comfy. The Museum Inn is just down the lane with great food and a super friendly landlord. The Fontmell Inn serves a delicious Sunday lunch and is just a few minutes drive away. All in all, lovely and would definitely recommend.

If you want a relaxing break in a rural location, Eton Cottage delivers. Very quiet and peaceful. Nice pub, Museum Inn 200m down the road.

We had a lovely relaxing weekend at Eton Cottage with great walks for Meg the dog. Comfy beds and all spotlessly clean. The Museum Inn was a great local. We were spoilt for choice for places to visit.
