  • What you need to know

What makes this area so special

The pretty villages of Benenden and Iden Green are within a mile, with The Bull pub, a community shop and post office in Benenden, and The Woodcock Inn at Iden Green. For fine dining, head to Apicius in Cranbrook, 4 miles away or Biddenden for the Michelin Starred restaurant, The West House. Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, Bewl Water, Biddenden Vineyard and the famous Chapel Down Vineyard (open for tours and tasting) are all a short drive, and Pashley Manor and Great Dixter gardens are both within easy reach. Nearby Tenterden is a charming market town 6 miles away and has its own steam train (The Kent and Sussex Railway) that follows a wonderful scenic route to moated Bodiam Castle. Gastropubs abound in Tenterden, and as you head towards the coast, the selection of fish is excellent - both from the fishermen on the beach and from the many restaurants that are dotted throughout the area. Ashford and Maidstone are both 17 miles away, making this an excellent base to discover the local area for a short break, or longer stays for business. High speed trains run regularly from Ashford to London in just over an hour; or there are trains every half hour from Staplehurst or Headcorn station (within a 20 minute drive). (NB most locals use the staplehurst line to get to London)
