Jack’s Cottage

The cottage is in a great location as we were working in Stamford for 2 weeks. It's on a busy road, which was fine for us. But it's quite noisy all the time. There were a number of cobwebs that were there on week 1, we didn't book it for the weekend and when we came back, they were still there, disappointing. And I didn't need to go looking for them, they are clearly there. The TV tends to 'pixelate' every time a lorry thunders past, which is frequently. There definitely is not any 'proper' parking and there is a, shall we say very keen neighbour, that challenges you in where you've parked, which I found funny, others might not so. You can park on the grass verge, but that'll depend on what car you drive and as I say its a very busy road and can't afford to have any piece of your car overhang as it'll be hit. However saying all that, it was ok for what we needed it for.

Excellent weekend at Burghley Horse Trials made perfect to relax in a comfortable, clean cottage. Well equipped, very homely. Secure garden for our young dog, plenty room for her cage inside. Good location.

Nice cottage and great facilities and thoughtful welcome pack. Unfortunately on a very busy road, luckily brought a fan with us so we were able to keep windows closed and slept well. Garden was mainly unusable due to lack of adequate seating and the badly maintained and overgrown lawn area (my husband weeded the pathways!). We were so busy out and about it wasn’t a major problem in the end. All of us really settled in well - including the dog, and had a very nice time.

The cottage is on a very busy main road, with lorries going through day and night which makes it very noisy and difficult to cross the road. There are no dedicated parking spaces. There is parking in a lay by further down the road but you need to cross the road as the footpath is on the other side. The sofa bed in the living room is just a sofa, my husband has a disability so when I read there was a sofa bed downstairs I thought it would be ideal if he couldn’t manage the stairs, this is not the case. The stairs are not great if you are not steady on your feet both bedroom doors lead straight onto the stairs. The outside garden was very untidy with lots of weeds and dog mess.

Plus points. Lovely cosy comfy cottage . Clean . Big garden. Open fire. Comfy bed. Brand new bbq. Close to lovely places to visit. Minus points. On Busy main road. Downstairs toilet. Lack of info, leaflets, visitors book, dvds and player, tin opener, egg cups.

Lovely well kept cottage just a few hitches like could have done with instructions for the cooker, maybe boiler and maybe info on local area. Traffic noise was great up to early evening and night traffic gave me the best nights sleep l have had since l left home ( alongside a main road) 40 years ago. However landlords had made good effects with blackout blinds and thick curtains. Lovely welcome pack of wine/bisc/butter/ milk and other supplies, did need a tin opener though. Traffic did effect TV signal more of a snag with myself than some l guess as with a young boy l didn't go out in the evenings ( large lorries broke signal up), maybe a booster for aerial or a higher one needed?
