About Norwood Dairy

Introduction

"\\A newly converted barn with vaulted ceiling open-plan living area underfloor heating and modern kitchen in Wormshill east of Maidstone. Steps lead down to a twin room and upstairs there’s an en suite master bedroom with skylights and beams. There are walks on the doorstep and the Blacksmith Arms is a stroll away.\\ - The Guardian December 2018 ’Cosy UK country cottages for a great New Year getaway’\nNorwood Dairy was home to fantastic cattle herd before it sat empty for many years but has been given a new lease of life as a carefully converted brand new self-catering holiday cottage. It is sat close to the Manor House a beautiful 16th Century wood-framed building with pretty flower borders and gardens.\nEnter into the large open plan sitting and dining area with high vaulted ceilings underfloor heating and a cosy reading corner there is plenty of space for everyone to relax and unwind. Through a doorway there is a separate kitchen - complete with Corian worktops - allows you a little escapism to prepare dinner while still being close by to the family. A couple of steps lead to the convenient downstairs twin room and shower room and from the sitting area a beautiful flight of oak stairs brings you to the master en-suite bedroom in the oldest part of the building with carefully restored exposed beams from the original construction of the barn.\nOutside there is a small walled courtyard a safe place for the kids to play as you enjoy this little suntrap. When the mood takes you there are plentiful walks through the vast open countryside all around with views over to the Isle of Sheppey on a clear day."

What you need to know

1 cot (please bring bedding) and 1 highchair available on request prior to arrival.

This is a pet-free property.

Private parking for two cars is available a few metres from the property (additional cars by prior arrangement).

There is a pond and barns in the grounds of the main house nearby, please ensure children are supervised at all times.

Hen and stag groups are not allowed, however guests of local weddings and events are welcome.

What makes this area so special

A mile walk will bring you to the Blacksmith Arms Pub in Wormshill. Also nearby you can try the Red Lion, and the Dirty Habit Inn at Hollingbourne dating back to the 11th Century. Within easy reach by car is the pretty town of Faversham, the coastal town of Whitstable and the historic cathedral city of Canterbury. Doddington Place and Gardens, and Leeds Castle are both within a short drive.

We loved the Dairy and its position, although access roads were not great on arrival. Our host was lovely and very helpful. She responded very quickly to minor concerns. The only concern was the size and accessibility of the upper bathroom, especially for tall people! Another side light in the bedrooms would be helpful. The downstairs communal area was excellent.

Conjoined with another holiday cottage but no neighbour noise experienced. Friendly hosts. Quiet location linked by single track roads to other villages with a few miles of winding rooms to navigate before reaching a main road. Good size living area with large TV screen and comfortable chairs. No laundry facilities. Kitchen lacking a little in worktop space. Low ceiling in ensuite that restricts movement but overall, a charming and well presented cottage in a rural location at a fair price. Visited September 2022.

very well equipped cottage, nice base for exploring Kent. Canternbury cathedral and Leeds castle both within easy reach and well worth it. Owners nearby but very unintrusive. Had a nice little holiday, thoroughly recommend!

Great property and well equipped with all you need. Owner are baed next door if you have any problem. Rural location on narrow roads but there are some great walks from the property even a footpath which starts from the cottage garden. Good and quiet in the evenings - but not far from local attractions with the Bredegar and Wormshill railway in the village.

Fantastic location spacious very clean and very comfortable (beds amazing). Quiet and remote yet easily accessible for day trips to Dover, Canterbury and other parts of Kent. Lovely walks direct from cottage with bluebells, lovely scenery and no noise pollution great to hear so many birds. No negatives to mention. Host was very good relaxed and attentive. No washing machine in cottage with use of the shared machine in cleaning annex next door. Cottage has old beams from previous use of barn which give massive character yet with no drafts and very modern amenities. Loads of warmth, not water etc. Really glad chose this location and cottage and wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend. There is a play park in Wormshill which children loved no shop, but since going out daily absolutely not an issue. Thanks for a great fortnight and sad to leave.

Extremely pleasant place to stay. Spacious, warm, homely, and with all the modern conveniences needed. It’s perfect for families with younger children. The only blot was that there were a couple of flies in the upstairs bedroom and a few dead ones on the floor, not sure how they got in as the windows were closed on arrival.

Efficient Excellent. Friendly greeting on arrival, Accomadation to a very high standard in lovely setting. Coffee, tea, milk , bread, butter, fresh flowers etc. all helped us feel at home.
