About Somer Lake House

Introduction

"If you’ve never stayed by a lake then this is your chance it really is a unique experience. Somer Lake House is one of a group of Cotswold stone cottages built recently on an award winning lakeside estate. Noted as having one of the best views Somer Lake House has a large deck with a large table and chairs and a barbeque where you can enjoy the late summer evenings alfresco dining and watch the sun go down.\nThe cottage has been well planned with a cosy sitting area with a wood-burning stove for those chillier autumn evenings. A few logs glowing a glass of wine perhaps and you’ve got the perfect start to an evening on a get away from reality. There’s plenty of living space with a large kitchen dining area for coming together for meals and chats. It’s the ideal accommodation for families or friends a real holiday treat.\nFor fun and relaxation there’s the large shared outdoor swimming pool a couple of minutes’ walk away with a café and children’s play area and canoes and bicycles can be hired on site. For those who are happy to sit and read the private decking offers a place where you can unwind and see wildlife and listen to the lapping water total chill out time. There’s a grass garden area around the house next to the decking good for picnics as well as an abundance of outside space around the estate. Well behaved dogs would be welcome too so a perfect place for all."

We were early in contact With you to complain about the lack of cleaning in The Somer Lake House. We were told that the keeper of the property would be in touch With us. They were, but they did not belive us! And they did nothing about the bad cleaning. We now remember The Somer Lake House as The Spider House and Cow Web House. The house was full of spiders and spiders web when we arrived the house. In one of the bedrooms there were 25 spiders!! The kids was so afraid that they did not go to sleep the first night About 25% of the lightbolbs did not work. In the Kitchen almost everthing that we took out of the cupboards was dirty. The dishwasher was black inside, and the teapot looked like somebody tried to cook milk in it. All the information that we got before the stay said that there was 3 pools we could use in the district, but we could only use 1. And we could not book Spa-treatments either. We would not come back to this house.

Mulberry cottages offer a great service - explanation of costs, what’s included and directions all perfect. However I would like to know how often they visit their properties they are agents for. Disappointed in the state of the kitchen of peeling cupboard doors, the rickety balcony and skylights covered in cobwebs. Main bedroom ensuite desperately needs updating or a good lick of paint and a proper shower rather than fed off the bath taps. Furniture on the decking needs attention. Location was brilliant - all in all not worth the money. Would definitely visit again the area, but a different property.

I only gave 3 stars because I booked this cottage a very long time ago and had to change the booking from the half term week - high season - to the week before - low season - but you insisted on same price not low season price - despite having many months notice of the change. Really lovely house. Very cosy.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great house with good facilities. My main concern was lack of info as to where to deposit the rubbish . Found the area after asking around. We then had to separate it off . Consequently I gave 4* rather than 5*. Another visit is certainly considered when my family from Australia visit us again. Regards Sheila Armstrong
