"The Oast is a typical traditional Kentish oast house that was originally built to dry hops for the making of beer. It has now been restored and converted into a comfortable home and is situated in the centre of the historic village of Newenden opposite the village green where cricket has been played since 1300 close to the church with its 12th century font and within very easy walking distance of the 16th century pub The White Hart Inn which offers local beers and wines as well as excellent home cooked food.\nWhilst The Oast is in the centre of this historic village it is situated in a very relaxing location with far reaching westerly views down the Rother Valley. There is plenty of outdoor space at The Oast a sheltered but sunny terrace with patio furniture and gas barbeque a large garden and a one acre paddock which is ideal for children to run around in. The Oast which is a listed building was converted in 1995 to a very high standard and retains many of its original period features including the hop press which is situated at the top of the stairs. The Oast benefits from modern insulation as well as an excellent central heating system.\nThe Oast is well designed for a superb family holiday. The roundel drawing room with two three seater sofas TV DVD and hifi is an excellent peaceful space with far reaching views down The Rother Valley. The adjoining sitting room with a log burning stove also has a TV and is a very cosy area especially during winter evenings. The traditional kitchen with range cooker is a great space and the adjacent dining room with its beamed ceiling mixes contemporary design with this historic building. Upstairs passing the old hop press on the stairs there are three further bedrooms and two bathrooms.\nNewenden is right on the Kent Sussex boarder and situated seven miles to the west of Tenterden seven miles north of Rye and twelve miles east of Battle. The Channel Tunnel is only forty five minutes by road and the spa town of Tunbridge Wells is also a short drive away taking about forty minutes. The seaside towns of Hastings Eastbourne and Brighton are also easy journeys and are excellent day trips. Within the village you can hire bicycles from May - October and also hire rowing boats and canoes from March - October. There are many walks and bike rides locally.\nWhatever the season there is always lots to see and do near to The Oast. The Oast is a detached property and there is an adjoining part of the house which is not rented out. This part of the house is sometimes occupied.
The house is set back from the A28 which has a 30 MPH limit. There is a pub located to the side of the property.
