"The Old Sweet Shop is a charmingly restored original fisherman’s cottage in a fabulous location minutes from the thriving town centre with its independent boutique shops cafes pubs with live music and many art galleries. It is also a perfect holiday cottage for families being minutes from the harbour and the beach with opportunities for crabbing swimming and a variety of watersports.\nThe cottage is over three floors with three bedrooms all beautifully decorated in a nautical style. Parents need to take care of toddlers and young children on the steep stairs but this is a popular feature on these original cottages.\nAs the cottage was the towns old sweet shop hence the name guests can help themselves to a selection of sweets with metal scoops and paper bags provided to complete the experience.\nThe cottage garden is fully enclosed so it is nice and safe for dogs. The main beaches of Whitstable are dog friendly all year round. Nicely sheltered the garden is a lovely place to relax sit and enjoy yourself after a busy day at the beach."

Whitstable is a small compact town, easy to walk everywhere - the working harbour, art galleries, pubs with live music, the beach and the independent boutique shops.
We had a most pleasant stay at The Old Sweet Shop, it’s very well situated for exploring Whitstable and we did enjoy not having to use the car on a couple of days. We found the cottage it self very comfortable and easy to stay in and the wood for the wood burner was very much appreciated along with the sweets and postcards that were complimentary too. We are already planning a return trip as we didn’t get to eat in all the places we wanted to try.

Second time at this beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished cottage. Paved garden now with new outdoor furniture - liked it a lot. Appreciated the welcome pack (chutney, coffee, wine). However, TV did not work and mattresses still too thin. Otherwise I would have given 10 throughout.

should be warning - bathroom out the back and most important - very very steep stairs - my son and family stayed there while we were in another rented place around the corner - I am reasonably mobile but with joint replacements - 75 years and have no wish to fall and the stairs would have been very treacherous - i would NOT have been able to stay there We enjoyed
