About The Tides

"This Sussex holiday cottage is situated at Winchelsea Beach one of the best kept secrets on the Sussex coast - miles of coastline as far as the eye can see with none of the hustle and bustle normally associated with such a wonderful Sussex seaside location.\nThis charming self-catering holiday cottage in Sussex is tucked away on an unmade private track and has a lovely light and airy feel with white painted wooden floors and quirky touches completing the scene.\nAs the cottage has two parts to it it would be great for extended family or a group of friends as the one bedroom annex has its own kitchen and shower room. For families with young children the enclosed courtyard is safe and a perfect for them to play safely while you keep an eye on them added to this there is seating outside for 12. There are 2 sitting rooms. The snug sitting room has comfortable sofas and chairs grouped around the open fireplace making this ideal for winter or summer breaks - a really cosy area in the depths of winter after a bracing walk on the Sussex beach In the summer with all the doors open this luxury holiday cottage has a charm all of its own in this wonderfully unspoilt landscape in East Sussex.\nAll in all this self catering Sussex holiday cottage is a real gem of a location in Sussex where time stands still and memories are made - you can’t ask for more\n"

Good booking system on line Comfortable beds. Good kitchen equipment. Kitchen work surfaces were very sticky, needed a very good clean. Oven needed a good clean. Overall the cottage felt a bit worn.

Love this house. Had been decorated since we were here last year so as soon as we walked in it felt so light and airy . Great position as can walk to the sea along country roads and paths passed horses which my grandchildren loved to do each day whatever the weather. In the garden they played hide and seek all the time in a safe environment. My husband enjoyed biking to the hides in the nature reserve nearby. A wonderful week away! Worth every penny as it was home from home and suitable for the three generations that came on holiday.

We rented The Tides at Winchelsea Beach for one week from April 6th for a family celebration. The space was excellent and the beds comfortable with good quality linen and we all enjoyed our stay. However there were certain things which the owners should be made aware of; -the kitchen drawers and cupboards were unnecessarily cluttered making it difficult to find things e.g we could not find any oven gloves (a safety issue) or kitchen scissors. -the oven in the main kitchen was so dirty that it filled the kitchen with fumes when turned on so used the oven in the small kitchen which was not clean but better than the others. -the two door mats in the kitchen were very old and shredding and were a trip hazard. -the lighting in the kitchen over the sink is very poor. -on arrival the bathrooms had the remains of a toilet roll from a previous guest plus one spare roll which was totally inadequate for 10 people staying for a week and ran out on day three. This is unacceptable given the rent paid for the house. -on arrival the outside temperature was 10 degrees and the house was freezing with all thermostats set at 10 degrees Twenty four hours later the house was still cold and we discovered that the heating is set for 2 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening-this is a ridiculous way to operate an underfloor heating system. The house should have been at an acceptable temperature when we arrived. -the owners may not be aware that the recycling bin is split down both sides

Great website, easy to book. Lovely stylish beach house in a great location. Decorated in all neutrals, this was a refreshing light place to stay. The central kitchen/diner was huge and light, and easily seated all 11 of us with most things we needed. One lounge was small & cosy with an open fire, the other spacious & light. The bedrooms again we’re light & airy with lots of windows & doors, some were very small with no hanging space. One thing to note is that all bedding was feather & down which was lovely & fluffy and warm but did cause a problem for a couple of our children who we discovered were allergic to it! The house is warm, the showers great, all well equipped. We couldn’t get the WiFi to work the whole time we were there & caretaker couldn’t resolve (be aware if you have teens!!). Location amazing with beach right there, lovely walks, local Co-Op.

The office staff were very efficient & I would consider booking with Mulberry cottages again The Tides was an ideal house for 11 of us celebrating a 70th birthday

Friendly booking staff, website clear and easy to navigate. Feedback questionnaire arrived 6 weeks after our stay in September, a bit slow. Only got feedback on repayment of deposit on phone, at my request. Info on Tides gave impression it was nearer to the beach than it was. Bed in Granny annexe, not very comfy and bit small. Twin/double beds would give more flexibility on adults’ room use. High end holiday cottage, almost over equipped, need for weeding out of some surplus gear. Not on besch- 5 minute walk to sea along muddy path. Local walks along coast - excellent. Co-op shop well stocked. Twin beds in some adult roms would give more flexibitity. Beds a bit small and not as comfy as one would expect for the price. Bikes not used, but if in working order, they would be vg extra facility. We enjoyed our stay and loved the ’moonscape’ shingle view from the window.

We had a girlie trip with 11 of us heading down to The Tides for the weekend! We absolutely loved it, the kitchen/dining space is superb for entertaining and where we pretty much spent most of our stay. One of our party had a baby and a highchair and travel cot were kindly provided at request. Thank you for such a super stay! We would definitely come again! Charlotte & the girls 5 out of 5 for our trip!!

From five months old infant to 80 year old great grandparents this proved to be perfect accommodation. The property is well equipped, clean and almost on the beach. It is bright and comfortably furnished but maintains a welcoming atmosphere. We certainly hope to visit again. Thanks to The Tides owners and Management.

The service was very good, friendly and efficient on the occasions I telephoned. The house was perfect for our family get together of 3 generations. We loved the layout which meant each room was light and airy. The location and views made us feel we were away from it all but we could stroll to the beach, a play area for the children and of course a handy shop. The house was so well equipped and the children were delighted with the toy box and the tree house. We all agreed it was the most perfect break.

A beautiful house, tastefully furnished, loads of space & great for families. It’s a perfect place to get loads of people together to cook, relax, drink wine & watch the kids playing without worrying about them.

Good email communication but service let down by " IT glitch " which took the final balance from my credit card earlier then stated. December 2016 Beautiful house in an excellent location close to the beach. Perfect for our New Year family reunion with plenty of space for the children to run around. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the large dining space ideal for convivial family meals. The grandparents loved the peace and quiet of the annex and the children -and their parents- enjoyed the pool table! House warm and cosy despite the frosty mornings - all in all a great place to stay.

good service, basic information, efficient e-mail communication. Beautiful setting, lovely accommodation. 2nd kitchen not stocked with crockery and cutlery on our visit. Things to do leaflets were in a box and we took a few days to find them!
