Introduction
"Troy House is a very spacious romantic Grade II listed thatched Georgian house in the centre of the village of Puddletown and was formerly the village shop from 1760’s until recent times. The village of Puddletown has a strong connection with Thomas Hardy - the village was immortalised by Thomas Hardy who named it Weatherbury in his novel ’Far From the Madding Crowd’.\nTroy House has featured in many paintings and books and was used in the film from “Time to Time” adapted for cinema by Julian Fellowes - even the village sign for Puddletown depicts Troy House alongside the village church.\nTroy House is unique with amazing features that reflect artistic flair in updating it to the 21st century while retaining the Georgian character. The property is set over three floors so may be unsuitable for people with mobility issues with an entrance hall that leads through to a large drawing room that during daylight hours is flooded with natural light. From either the drawing room or the entrance hall the kitchen is accessed down a stairway to the lower level that has been recently refurbished but retaining the old wine storage alcoves and brick stairway used for deliveries in yesteryears.\nStairs in the entrance hall lead up to the bathroom on a half landing then onto the two double bedrooms – the smaller of the two bedrooms is tastefully decorated and furnished with glimpses of the thatched roof through the window.\nThe second bedroom is approached via a landing and opens into a spacious room that has a barrelled ceiling and a spectacular Venetian window that overlooks the quiet village Square.\nOutside space consists of a small paved area surrounded by railings and pillars set beneath the Venetian window with a bench seat. Due to the layout and style this property may not be suitable for those with restricted mobility.\nThe village of Puddletown has a Public House and shop that includes a post office newsagents and butchers.\nDorset is a beautiful county with an abundance of bridleways and footpaths allowing walkers and cyclists to access the countryside with little or no roadwork. The county town of Dorchester is just 5 miles away and offers a wide range of independent shops pubs and places to eat and the picturesque coastal areas of Lulworth Cove and Weymouth are also just a short drive away."
