About Valley Barn

Introduction

"Valley Barn offers sleek and modern living whilst being ideally placed in the centre of the countryside. Newly converted in 2014 you will not be disappointed with all it has to offer. From state of the art entertainment systems two stunning en-suite bedrooms and a large open plan living area and kitchen you could be mistaken for thinking you were in a 5 hotel.\nThe most breath taking part of this home is the uninterrupted views Glass doors open across the full length of the front of the building looking over rolling valley hills as far as you can see this truly is an idyllic place to get away from it all.\nIf you feel like venturing out you will find a variety of things to do on your door step. Walking is exceptionally popular in the area due to the traditional looking villages and great local charm. While you’re out and about why not visit The Woolpack pub which is known locally as one of the best pubs in the Cotswolds and is famous for being frequented by Laurie Lee. Valley Barn is on the Laurie Lee Wildlife Way and a map is available within the property. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust owns four beautiful nature reserves in the Slad Valley called Frith Wood Snows Farm Swifts Hill and thanks to a very successful fundraising appeal the new Laurie Lee Wood. The Laurie Lee Wildlife Way takes in all four Nature Reserves and the trail is marked by wooden posts carved with the famous authors poems. People come from all over Europe to see the beauty of these valleys. If you fancy going a little further afield you will find Cheltenham with its regency charm independent shops and cafes and of course the famous racecourse just up the road as well as Stroud Gloucester and the rest of the Cotswolds right on your doorstep."

From time of booking, we found Mulberry Cottages staff to be polite and helpful. All administrative issues relating to our booking were dealt with efficiently, thank you. The descriptive section of your website relating to Valley Barn was a little less than up front in respect of the second bedroom! Hardly stunning as described, it was tiny, with very little storage space, other than a two door chest of drawers and some wall hooks. It is not surprising that none of the photographs featured on your site, showed this bedroom! The photos you did post, raised our expectations that both rooms were of the same calibre! Imagine our disappointment when we arrived! We have already mentioned our disappointment with the size of the second bedroom. Having said this, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The ensuite was newly fitted and perfectly adequate, so not all was negative! Overall, staying at Valley Barn was a most pleasurable experience. It’s location is stunning, and it is fitted out to a very high standard. We were disappointed that there was no microwave oven at the property. This is very useful when returning from a long day out, and easy meal preparation is desired. we noticed from the visitors book, we were not the only guests to have this view! In summary, we would love to return to Valley Barn in the future, but we would do so not in company with another couple, as we did on this occasion! At least then, we’ll not need to toss a coin for the bedrooms!

The directions of the property need updating. Took us sooo long to find as the barn was named a completely different name and not valley barn and this was not indicated on the directions nor did the member of staff know when we called. Was a bad start. Other than that all was good. Ooo and no did player in lounge the website says there is. The property was stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. The views were amazing. Highly recommend staying here. If your keen on walking they have information in the property about a new 6 mile walk... A must!! Farmers market was good in the local village. The property had everything you needed. Will definitely return.
