Walking is exceptionally popular in the area due to the traditional looking villages and great local charm. While you’re out and about why not visit The Woolpack pub which is known locally as one of the best pubs in the Cotswolds and is famous for being frequented by Laurie Lee. Valley Barn is on the Laurie Lee Wildlife Way and a map is available within the property. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust owns four beautiful nature reserves in the Slad Valley called Frith Wood Snows Farm Swifts Hill and thanks to a very successful fundraising appeal the new Laurie Lee Wood. The Laurie Lee Wildlife Way takes in all four Nature Reserves and the trail is marked by wooden posts carved with the famous authors poems.
