Where is the Weald

The charming Weald, crosses the counties of Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. It was once heavily forested, yet the woodland is still covering 23% of the overall area which is considered to be the highest levels in England. The County, Kent, is known as the garden of England. Therefore there are a lot numerous areas that invite great escapes. Especially the Weald of Kent gives the chance to explore one of the county's special landscapes. This area is known for having a medieval landscape look of rolling hills studded with sandstone outcrops. The area is 1461 km and will be the perfect destination for the tourists who want to experience the English countryside from its best perspective. The name of the area is Old English in origin which signifies the forest, but today the name refers to an area of villages & towns rich in history, culture and picturesque countryside. The Weald is built up by lairas of chalk, clay and lower greensand. A well known fact is Charles Darwin studied the Weald for the erosion of the chalk, sandstone and clay in his theory about natural selection which can be read in the first edition of his brilliant book: “On The Origin Of The Species” Many artists are associated with the Weald of Kent because they draw inspiration from the beautiful nature. Today you will still find the maintained wooded character and might seem to be inspired by it yourself. This means that the area have had an important influence on art and also made an impact on what we know about areas like The Weald construction because of theories. When there is a blue sky and the wind has dropped the experience will be even more stunning. It will make the view from one of the hill tops extraordinary. The Weald will bring peacefulness with the exploration. The Weald will also have different activities to offer such as golf and entertaining outdoor activities aimed at families with children. The whole family could get together to play a game of cricket on the lower even parts of the area which is only dedicated to activities. Several parts of the forest on a higher level is used for hunting which is also considered an activity there is able to join whenever within the season. The area will give the opportunity to have an enjoyable meal or glass of wine as well while enjoying the spectacular view of the Weald on one of the near Restaurants at the end of the visit. You should also feel very welcome to bring your own food and make a day of it in the Weald with a picnic.
