EXPLORE SHROPSHIRE

Tucked away on the English/Welsh border. With the most gorgeous countryside with scenes that come straight from classical English books.
View All Homes In Shropshire

Shropshire lies to the West of the UK, bordering North Wales and is surrounded by Cheshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.  It really is the most gorgeous British countryside with descriptions that comes straight from the classical English poets and authors.

Shropshire's county town Shrewsbury, founded by the Saxons and developed by the Tudors, lies within a giant loop of the river Severn and is famous for its castle, spires, abbey, parklands and half-timbered medieval houses.  Just to wander through the streets is quite uplifting and if you are planning a trip to Shropshire, Shrewsbury is a brilliant place to start!  Come and stay in one of our cottages in Shropshire, you will have so much to see and delight in the fabulous countryside.  Shrewsbury has an abundance of lovely shops and boutiques, so if you are after a little retail therapy, you have come to the right place.

Not far away is Ludlow which has a lively market, food fairs, speciality food shops and more restaurants and Inns than you can shake a cocktail stick at. Ludlow hosts a number of festivals and fairs each year. The Ludlow Marches Food & Drink Festival is held every September, Ludlow Festival is held in June/July attracting performers from all over the world. In November the Medieval Christmas Fair is held locally and staying in one of the cottages in Shropshire, gives you the freedom to discover the entertaining festivals held all over the county.

Another delightful town to visit is Bridgnorth, made up of two towns - the High Town (good views down) and the Low Town (good views up). The Low town was once a thriving port along the banks of the River Severn; while other people preferred to live around the castle and the churches, high on the cliffs above. Many of their 16th and 17th century houses still remain. Whether you admire the view from the sandstone cliff of Bridgnorth, or stand on the bridge below, (at the height of summer the Severn is almost covered by the flowers of water crowfoot) you won't have to look far to have your breath taken away in the Severn Valley.

Nearby an iron footbridge takes you to the Severn Valley Railway Station. You can take a 16 mile journey along the River Severn valley to Kidderminster - plenty of walks from the stations along the way.  And if you want to explore the beautiful Severn Gorge to the south, you should definitely let the steam train take the strain. The Severn Valley Railway is an amazing way to see the countryside!

There is so much to see and do in this wonderful county, so come and stay in one of our cottages in Shropshire for a lovely short break or longer holiday.
